Ottoman statesman; son of Sa’d al-Din Pasha

Son of Sa’d al-Din Pasha and father of Ahmad Mouayad Pasha. The family archive records his presence in Egypt during the French campaign and his participation in events around Cairo at the turn of the nineteenth century. It also preserves accounts of journeys to Vienna and London and a painted portrait.

Damascene statesman who served in senior Ottoman administrative roles and became president of the Syrian General Congress in 1919, the country’s first elected legislative assembly. He was the father of Khalid al‑Azm.
